What is canine-biomechanics

Orthovet is a special clinic for acute and chronic orthopedic diseases and spinal disorders in dogs. In addition, we are specialized for acute and chronic pain disorders and pain-related skin diseases. Through our specialization we are able to do static and dynamic X-ray images of the spine and joints. The dynamic X-ray images of the cervical and lumbar spine can if needed for diagnostic purposes be done in a "standing" position.

Dynamic Radiology

The dynamic X-ray images of the cervical and lumbar spine can if needed for diagnostic purposes be done in a "standing" position. For the diagnostic tool, it can show the subluxation in the spine, and if so, give the pathway of the treatment!

More information

In addition, Dr. Patrick Blättler Monnier is as well involved in various research projects on biomechanics and movements of the dog as well as diagnosis of chronic pain processes.

A newly created master's thesis on the innervation of the small vertebral joints in dogs, which was initiated by Dr. Patrick Blättler Monnier underpinned this clear.

Radiological assessment of X-ray image

I repeatedly been asked to assess an X-ray image and thus to measure the orthopedic problems of a dog.

Caution an X-ray does not speak!

In order to assess an X-ray image and to interpret this in relation to the clinical symptoms of the dog, it requires an orthopedic and neurological examination and an assessment of the gait of the dog!! Missing this requirement an X-ray image is not serious to assess. I ask for your understanding when I regarding assessing an X-ray image and possibly clinical orthopedic problems of your dog thus cannot meet your request and also cannot answer it.

Assessment from gait images on video sequences

The same statement from above applies for assessing a transmitted video sequences. This is aggravated by that most sequences disregard the circumstances of the subsurface. I ask for your understandings, that an assessment of a video sequence without orthopedic and neurological examination only leads to speculation and thus is not assessed by me.
